Publishing Terms and Conditions
Trading Detail
Working Together and Prospect are trading names of Sandshaker Limited.
By submitting content to the Working Together collaboration site you are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions:
1) Your Copyright
Any content submitted to the Working Together collaboration site remains the intellectual property of the author or copyright holder (which means that you can re-publish your content or adaptations of your content elsewhere). However, by submitting content to the Working Together collaboration site you grant permission for Working Together to publish your content on the Working Together collaboration site and to modify, adapt, edit, reproduce and create derivative works based on your content (for example, to publish an excerpt in Working Together event reports), without payment to the author or copyright holder, in perpetuity. (See disclaimer below.)
2) Libel
To the maximum extent permitted at law, Working Together holds the author or copyright holder responsible for any defamatory or libellous remarks made in the content they submit (see disclaimer below). Libel means to defame, or take away a good name. Libel can be proven even when the plaintiff is referred to indirectly. The tests of defamation include: hatred, ridicule or contempt; causing the subject to be shunned or avoided; 'lowering a person in the estimation of right-minded people'; and - most relevant here - implying a lack of qualification, knowledge, skill, capacity, judgement or efficiency to conduct business. Malicious falsehood means the publication of a false statement that damages a person. In criminal defamatory libel one publication could be the subject of both civil and criminal proceedings and the defamer could be made to pay damages.
3) Disclaimer
Where you are invited to submit any contribution to Working Together (including any text or graphics) you agree, by submitting your contribution, to grant Working Together a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive right and license to publish your contribution on the Working Together collaboration and website and reproduce, modify, adapt, edit, publish, translate, create derivative works from and distribute your contribution, and/or incorporate your contribution in other works in any media now known or later developed, in accordance with privacy restrictions set out in the Working Together's Privacy Policy. This may include publications or other works of media produced by Working Together for sale. If you do not want to grant to Working Together the rights set out above, please do not submit your contribution to Working Together.
In addition:
Where you are invited to submit any contribution to Working Together (including any text or graphics) you warrant that your contribution:
i) is your own original work and that you have the right to make it available to Working Together for publication on the Working Together collaboration site and website and other purposes outlined above; and
ii) is not defamatory; and
iii) does not infringe any law; and
iv) you indemnify Working Together against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by Working Together as a result of your breach of the above warranty.
4) Removal of content
Working Together has the right to remove content from the Working Together collaboration site and website at any time without advance notice or explanation.
Working Together is not legally bound to remove content (that is published on the Working Together collaboration site and website) at the request of the author or copyright holder. However, it is our policy to do so; if you would like your content to be removed from the Working Together collaboration site and website, please email info@workng2gether.net, with a note explaining the reasons for your request.
Editorial Policy
General Principle
This document constitutes the Editorial Policy for the Working Together collaboration site and website.
It is aimed at the editorial team with responsibility for the Working Together collaboration site and website.
Specifically, this document refers to the content published by Working Together on www.working2gether.net and its associated collaboration site and does not relate to any comments published by the users of the Working Together collaboration site (e.g., user comments posted after articles).
This document also applies to content published by the organisation elsewhere, such as marketing information, electronic newsletters, and external publications.
In some cases, content sourced by the editorial team may not be considered suitable for publication on www.working2gether.net. In such cases, this document should be used as a guide to what is and what is not acceptable
Content is required to comply strictly with this guideline to ensure that nothing is published that may damage Working Together or its interests. It is therefore necessary to define the types and nature of suitable content; to ensure all members of the Working Together team work from the same definitions; to ensure compliance in every aspect; and to ensure consistent application of this Editorial Policy.
If there are requirements to adapt the policy, a new and separate genre document can be developed.
Editorial Input
Working Together's Editorial Staff reserve the right to discuss certain decisions based on this Editorial Policy. For example, this document would not allow specific and in depth discussions relating to racism, nor would it allow potentially racist comments to be published. However, certain articles may be based around, for example, certain current events or views of certain people that, in context, would allow such comments to be published. In such a case an adapted compliance policy would be developed.
Working Together's Editorial Staff also carry the ultimate responsibility in publishing those comments. The articles in question will only go live if Working Together's Director approves the articles.
Genres
Working Together's content will be supporting general channels based on categorisations that include (but is not limited to):
Procurement Issues
Value to the Citizen
Capturing Innovation
Creating a level playing field
Digital Culture
Also, it is anticipated that as Interest Groups expand, more genres will be covered.
Each genre has differing compliance requirements (for example: in depth discussion of the sex industry would not normally be considered suitable, but might be allowed in the context of an article on how the sex industry utilises made-for-mobile content for example). Separate sub-set compliance policies will be created as necessary.
For the purposes of this document a 'comment' is a set of words, phrase, sentence or paragraph within an article, feature, white paper, report, newsletter or other content affiliated to Working Together. All compliance therefore applies equally to sections of an article as to the whole article itself.
