Play Fair !

Submitted by Matt Harris on Thu, 2007-03-01 15:29. Procurement issues | tender process

Okay had my first taste of what i believe is a very unfair process - we were "invited" - this from a previous Public Sector client - to pitch for a large project under one of their sub-departments - that would be whittled down to 3 agencies for the 2nd stage interview.

After spending a week on a very good response (even If I do say so myself) we were informed via letter that the "winning agency" had more experience etc. etc. which set off alarm bells to us, as our experience (for this particular project) was second to non. To not get to the interview stage was a big surprise.

This letter and subsequent digging around pointed to the fact that there wasn't a second stage process and that the winning agency had already been chosen before the tender was even sent out.

The tender was obviously sent out to tick the protocol box.

We understand this happens all the time in the private sector but shouldn't there be a more fair approach from the Public Sector over this type of thing...
