Background to Policy Unplugged

Policy Unplugged exists to inject kinetic energy into public policy innovation. We do this by cultivating new communities of 'practical visionaries' who share a creative passion to work together to generate new forms of public value.

We use a combination of on line dialogue and large group intervention processes (e.g. open space technology) to enable new and deeper connections to be made and better conversations to take place as a spur to collaborative innovation.

We work with a diverse range of organisations - private and public sector, NGO's - and develop bespoke solutions for each.

Background to NMK

NMK provides industry intelligence for the UK's digital markets, producing a comprehensive programme of events and courses, complimented by research and consultancy services. Through the freely accessible website www.NMK.co.uk, digital practitioners and their clients can share and exchange knowledge, experience and skills. This interactive platform aims to promote a healthy, profitable, creative and diverse UK digital economy. NMK is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Westminster, one of the country's leading educational institutions for digital media.

Established in 1998, NMK has worked to support the growth and maturity of the UK's emerging digital media industries, and to meet the sector's learning and business support needs. During this period we have built up a large community of professionals and businesses, with a bi-weekly email newsletter going out to more than 6000 digital media practitioners.

One of the organisation's core strengths is its expertise in developing knowledge clusters and networks of innovative small companies, thereby encouraging the cross-fertilisation of creative ideas, promoting best practice in business and facilitating the creation of strategic alliances and partnerships. Such relationships play an important role in helping small companies to gain access to markets and develop new services and products, while at the same time contributing to overall sectoral growth and driving competitive advantage.
